The
National Women's Alliance joins community-based
organizations, politicians, policy makers, community leaders
and activists in thinking seriously and strategically about
political participation and mobilization among racial and ethnic
minority groups.
In
the summer of 2005,
the National Women's Alliance launched two new programs: LEGWatch and ISSUEWatch. NWA LEGWatch serves as a guide on specific topics,
which tracks and monitors legislation and public policies that
directly impact women and girls of color. Through NWA ISSUEWatch,
the National Women's Alliance aims to provide
an
intersectional
perspective
and analysis
of issues impacting women and girls of color.
With
an interest in domestic politics, the National Women's Alliance
actively tracks legislation currently being discussed in the
109th Congress as well as examines the role
of minorities and women within Congress. Moreover, prior to the
2004
Election, the National Women's Alliance took an active role
in the political process with the creation of the 2004
National Election Guide: A Resouce for Policy Makers, Community
Leaders
and Concerned Citizens, which provided an analysis
of the Presidential candidates based on issues that are relevant
to racial and ethnic
minorities, women, and the LGBTQ community.
